If religion promised belonging, why did we walk away... & why aren't we going back?
For centuries, religion gave people community, ritual, and a sense of purpose. In many parts of the world, it still does. Yet so many of us have stepped away from religious institutions, driven out by a myriad of reasons and hesitant to go back.
In this supper, we’ll explore - what did we gain in the process, and what have we lost? What - if anything - is helping us replace the role and purpose that religion used to play? And at a time marked by loneliness and longing for belonging, why aren’t we seeing people return to churches and temples in their swatches?
